Qualifications & Funding
ECDL is defined within the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as incorporated within the BCS
Certificates for IT Users Level 1 & 2.
- BCS Certificate for IT Users Level 1 comprises ECDL modules 1, 2 & 7
- BCS Certificate for IT Users Level 2 comprises ECDL modules 3, 4, 5 & 6 plus additional Unit E
In completing all eight modules of the BCS IT User Certificate Level 2, candidates will achieve
Performance Indicator Points (for their school), UCAS points (towards entry to Higher Education) as
well as the employer-recognised ECDL qualification.
The BCS IT User Certificate is a proxy qualification for IT Key Skills Level 2. Thus candidates
successfully completing the BCS IT User tests do not have to resit the IT Key Skills tests at this level.
