ECDL for Schools
The European Computer Driving Licence® is the fastest growing IT qualification in the UK and is
now being offered by a growing number of schools in the UK. It is a motivational programme of study
that is flexible, modular and hands-on. It offers: |
- An alternative to GCSE IT as a comparable Level 2 qualification
- *Proxy qualification and portfolio evidence for IT Key Skills Level 2
- *Attracts school Performance Indicator Points and UCAS points
- Works towards the IT Programme Of Study at Key Stage 4
- An employer-recognised qualification, relevant to the world of work
- A qualification that is internationally recognised

The ECDL syllabus is designed to cover the key concepts of computing, its practical applications and

ECDL is broken down into seven modules, each of which must be passed before an ECDL certificate is
awarded. The modules may be taken in any order and over any period of time up to three years - even
all at once - offering maximum flexibility. The seven modules that make up the ECDL are:
